The New Printing Press: AI and the Decentralization of Sacred Interpretation
By Nicholas J. Brooks, Esq.
This essay argues that artificial intelligence may do for sacred interpretation what the printing press did for access to sacred texts: reduce informational scarcity and make religious claims easier to inspect. It examines how religious authority has long depended in part on specialized access to language, translation, and historical context, and contends that AI may weaken that monopoly without eliminating the value of real expertise.
